Imagine,
sit back,
for once,
listen to others talk,
take it in,
let it transform you.
ANON
This is how we gave ourselves half a day of browsing through the OMH website. It was an exciting event. Let us share with you the experiences:
1.
2. We went ahead and read through the blogs. We chose 2 very interesting blogs to share with you:
a. My Brother’s Keeper: Increasing Pathways to Better Health and Opportunity.
This article is by J
"Communities that strengthen support and create and expand opportunities
for all youth, including boys and young men of color, are at the heart
of President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper (MBK) initiative, which
commemorated its first anniversary on February 27. A one year report from the My Brother’s Keeper Task Force details the progress we have
made thus far in answering the President’s call for communities and
young people to put all youth in a position to thrive, regardless of
race, gender or socioeconomic status." Come on grab your copy or get to read the article.
b. We came across a testimony that will sure bring joy and warmth in your heart. Remember The OMH Blog for Health Equity is dedicated to raising awareness about
health disparities and sharing the views, stories and ideas that unite
us toward a common goal of improving the health of all Americans. The story titled "Celebrating 5 Years: What It Means to #GetCovered," is a must read. In it Stefania Fochi, of Sarasota, Florida is telling us that, "Because of the Affordable Care Act and the Health Insurance
Marketplace, I now have affordable coverage that gives me peace of mind
and financial security. My Marketplace plan last year cost $98 a month
after tax credits. And best of all, I can finally get the care I’ve been putting off. I
can get my checkups and, for a copay of only $20, I was finally able
to see a specialist and get my ear problem taken care of. This year was even better. I went back to the Marketplace to see if I
could get a better deal and found a good policy that costs only $60 a
month after tax credits."
You too can go to the website http://www.minorityhealth.hhs.gov/ and read all those very informative articles there. Enjoy!
